Bible Passage:
Cast your cares on the Lord, and He will sustain you; He will never let the righteous be shaken.
— Psalm 55:22 (NIV)

Truth to Remember:
Give your burdens to God, for He will support you and keep your faith unshaken.

Devotional Reflection

There was a season in my life when I relied too much on a spiritual leader instead of seeking God for myself. I accepted what this person said and did as truth, and I placed more value on their relationship with God than on my own. When I began to see that their words and actions did not line up with God’s truth, I felt deeply shaken. The disappointment was not just in them—it showed me that my spiritual security had been resting on a person rather than on the Lord. Walking away was painful, confusing, and humbling.
During that time, God showed me that I did not have to carry my hurt and disappointment alone. It was a process to begin giving Him those burdens and learning to walk with Him personally. As I learned to release my disappointments to Him, I slowly began to notice a change. My faith gradually grew in Christ, not in people or opinions. He kept me from falling away from Him, and my foundation in His goodness stayed firm. I realized that people may fail, but God never does. When I cast my burdens on Him, He brings stability during difficult seasons because my focus is no longer on my cares but on His faithfulness to sustain me.

Application: Walking in God’s Sustaining Care

If someone you trusted has let you down or hurt you, bring that pain honestly to God—even if that person was a representative of God or a spiritual leader in your life. Do not harden your heart or pull away from Him. Give Him what you were never meant to carry. Keep turning to God in every season. When disappointment, fear, or confusion arise, bring those burdens to Him again. God sustains you by giving you strength to endure, keeping your heart from turning away, guarding you from bitterness, and giving wisdom for the next step. Your burden may not disappear immediately, but your faith can stay steady in His care.

Reflection Questions:
What am I still trying to carry that God wants me to give Him?
What is one specific step I can take today to hand this burden over to God?

    Prayer:
Dear Father God, You see the burdens we carry and the times we have relied on others more than on You. Forgive us for placing our security in things that can change. We give You our disappointments, confusion, and hurt. Help us turn to You in every season and trust You fully. Strengthen our faith in Christ alone. Sustain us, steady us, and keep us from being shaken. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

    Claiming God’s Promise:
I cast all my cares on the Lord, trusting that He sustains me; I will not be shaken.
